Cherohala Skyway

As you drive the approximately 40+ mile, 1 and 1/2 hour trip, you will find no restaurants, gas stations, telephones or hotels. There is extremely limited cell phone service, if any. You will find nature at its best; 20,000 species of plants and animals, campgrounds and rustic camping, trail heads, hiking trails, pull off overlooks, picnic tables and 3 rest room facilities.

Keep in mind that the weather along the Cherohala can be extremely unpredictable. Thunderstorms are common and can build quickly and without warning in the summer. In the winter temperatures at or below freezing are common.

Designed for the traveler to savor all the area's natural beauty, the Skyway has few passing zones - so please take you time and enjoy the wonderful scenery and views. The elevations range from 900 feet above sea level at the Tellico River in Tennessee to over 5400 feet above sea level at the Tennessee-North Carolina state line at Haw Knob.
